According to David Heyman, “Half-Blood Prince,” which will be released in the US on July 17, will be different than the previous films, since “in each film we try to push the boundaries a bit.” However, lovers of bloodshed and pathos shouldn’t get too excited; Heyman also said that “Half-Blood Prince” is no darker than “Order of the Phoenix,” the fifth film in the series.

Besides comparable levels of darkness, “Half-Blood Prince” shares its British rating with “Order of the Phoenix.” Earlier this week, the British Board of Film Classification rated the movie 12A, the same rating that "Order of the Phoenix" earned. However, the American rating for "Half-Blood Prince" is PG, whereas "Order of the Phoenix" was rated PG-13.

The board also reported that the film will run 153 minutes, which is just about average for a Potter film.
